About Ken – Mold Engineering, Mechanical Design & Injection Molding Experience

I am Ken, the author of this engineering blog. My background covers mold making, mold design, tooling engineering, product mechanical design, injection molding, manufacturing process review, and engineering team management.

Before becoming a mechanical engineer, I spent several years in the mold and tooling industry. I started as a mold maker, moved into mold design, and later worked as a mold engineer. This experience helped me understand how product design, mold structure, injection molding, manufacturing cost, quality, and mass production risks are connected.

In 2016, after an organizational restructuring at my previous company, I changed my career direction and became a mechanical engineer. At the same time, I also took on the role of Mechanical Engineering Manager. This transition was challenging, but it helped me connect hands-on tooling experience with product mechanical design and engineering team management.

My practical experience includes plastic part design, DFM review, mold design review, MoldFlow analysis, injection molding defect analysis, tolerance stack-up, surface treatment processes, supplier communication, and cross-functional project coordination.

This blog shares practical engineering knowledge based on real product development and manufacturing experience. I write about engineering materials, product mechanical design, injection mold design, injection molding, manufacturing processes, surface treatment, and engineering software.
